Close to John o’ Groats

We’re in Tain this evening – a small town north of Inverness and quite close to John o’ Groats – which we should reach tomorrow.

It’s been a little testing the last few days – partly getting re-acquainted with cold and rain in various campsites. We’ve also not been able to source an affordable camper van as yet and so today rented a small diesel panel van for a few weeks at very reasonable cost which will do for the moment. It’s not a plug-in hybrid which would be more appropriate but at least it’s not a guzzler.

The Scottish scenery is magnificent and coming through the Cairngorms we saw some patches of snow (the last snow we saw was on distant Himalayan peaks from Rishikesh last November).

  1. Bravo, guys – still forging quite a significant way Northwards. Still sharp and chilly down South too.
